Nikidis Ekaterina

Ekaterina Nikidis (born in 1987, St. Petersburg) is a member of the professional creative union "The Visual Artists Association" (VAA) (since 2020).

Graduated from the Art and Professional Lyceum. K. Faberge, SPO, jeweler (2019); LIMTU NRU ITMO, specialist in computer graphics in printing (2009). Currently studying at the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts named after I. Repin, specializing in art criticism.
She began her artistic practice in 2007 with academic drawing courses. After receiving a diploma in computer graphics, she worked as a graphic designer. In parallel with her work in the field of design, she was actively engaged in artistic searches. For the sake of learning new techniques and materials, she was trained in jewelry and stone cutting. She switched to professional art activity in 2019. The most significant event in her career to date is participation in The London Art Biennale 2021 (The London Art Biennale).
In his works, he explores the phenomenon of human identification (including self-identification) through the objects of the material world created or used by him. The study of the link "man - artifacts" led to the creation of a series of works devoted to surrounding objects as independent participants in history. The artist also pays great attention to the depiction of fleeting phenomena, such as clouds, shadows and rays of light, mainly from nature.
