Lahcen Khedim - ART MOST STORE

Lahcen Khedim

Lahcen Khedim, known as L.K, was born in Montbéliard, in the east of France, he lives in Nice and works in a law firm. In his spare time, he draws.
Under the advice of a friend, he goes to Paris to meet artists and present his work. Pierre & Gilles notice him, even buy a canvas from him. Lahcen collaborates with them and begins to paint. At ENSBA, he follows the workshops of colorist J.M Thommens. In 2009, a first article appeared in Artslant, an American magazine of contemporary art. The same year, he was invited by the Galerie Claude Samuel, in Paris, to make his first solo exhibition of his drawings on paper, then a group exhibition with various artists from the Gallery (Shimon Attie, Gérard Fromanger, Anette Sauerman... ) L.K then expresses himself on large acrylic drawings, he combines different mediums on cardboard, marouflages and signs a chaotic vision of our humanities (Chaos & Crowd). He participated in the first edition of Chic Art Fair with the Claude Samuel gallery. His work is highly noticed. The Moretti & Moretti gallery selects him for the big exhibition "Same Fight" with Villeglé, Miss.Tic, Dominique Larrivaz, Jeff Aérosol, then in 2012, the solo exhibition "Chaos Tracés", at the Claude Samuel gallery is a new start for L.K. This work led him to exhibit all over France. In 2016, two works left for Art Basel Miami with the Catherine Ahnell Gallery, X contemporary Art Fair. This is the beginning of a collaboration with the New York gallery Catherine Ahnell. Solo exhibition "Chaos", collective exhibition Art <3000 - Urban Art Fair New York Street Art Group. Creations of frescoes.
The artist is mutable, Lahcen decides to explore other mediums. Inspired by the work of the Orientals, by printmaking and calligraphy, also admiring the work of Gao Xinjiang who mixes the graphic tradition with a political vision, often poetic, L.K develops this movement, always having at heart, the history of its history . The Exile series is a tribute to the journey of his family, but this work echoes above all the departure of thousands of men now determined to seek a better future with necessity as the only engine to move and throw themselves into the void.
These drawings, by their serenity or on the contrary their emotional charge, invited him to question the figurative demonstration. The artist purifies the line to the point of abstraction sometimes. But also adds other materials, wool, plastic, figure of filter and veil on a too glaring reality.
In 2019, selected by the architecture firm Lobjoy & Bouvier, the promoter Redman and the Ministry of Culture, he created "Deux Windows" for "1 building 1 work" for the Sense building in La Défense. This experience opens the doors to the creation of projects in space, the search for other media. In 2021, he proposes “Esquive(s)”, a wall of 17 linear meters of plastic sheeting dyed in an ink bath, a blue color chart floating and inflated by fans. His project "Les Nattes", a suspended wool sculpture, is selected for the contemporary art biennial in Cachan 2023, on the theme of childhood.
