Franck Alagna (born in 1964, Aix-en-Provence).

My love of art was instilled in me by my father, an amateur painter. At 13, I met André Masson at his home in Le Tholonet, who sparked my questions about art. At 19, I studied drawing for a year at the Aix-en-Provence School of Fine Arts. Afterward, I made reproductions of paintings by Impressionist masters (Manet, Monet, Renoir, Pissarro, Degas, Van Gogh, Cézanne). Then I made reproductions of lesser-known painters such as Georges Maroniez, Maud Naftel, and Vernon Ward.
In 2007, I began creating my own paintings. I used to paint very realistic pictures, almost like photographs. In 2019, having acquired some technical skill, I turned to a new technique using small squares and lines. This technique allows me to create both figurative and abstract paintings. I really like this technique, which allows me to create figurative work with an abstract aspect—a bit unusual, but innovative.

Mon amour de l’art m’a été transmis par mon père, peintre amateur. À 13 ans, j’ai rencontré André Masson chez lui, au Tholonet, qui a éveillé ma curiosité artistique. À 19 ans, j’ai étudié le dessin pendant un an à l’École des Beaux-Arts d’Aix-en-Provence. Par la suite, j’ai réalisé des reproductions de tableaux de maîtres impressionnistes (Manet, Monet, Renoir, Pissarro, Degas, Van Gogh, Cézanne). Puis, j’ai reproduit des œuvres de peintres moins connus comme Georges Maroniez, Maud Naftel et Vernon Ward.

En 2007, j’ai commencé à créer mes propres peintures. Je peignais alors des tableaux très réalistes, presque photographiques. En 2019, ayant acquis une certaine maîtrise technique, je me suis tourné vers une nouvelle technique utilisant de petits carrés et des lignes. Cette technique me permet de créer des peintures figuratives et abstraites. J’aime beaucoup cette technique, qui me permet de créer des œuvres figuratives avec un aspect abstrait — un peu inhabituel, mais novateur.
