Fernand Maillaud

Fernand Maillaud (1862-1948) – the famous French painter, illustrator and tapestry designer.

Maillaud was the brightest representative of Impressionism, a fine colourist and a great master of genre landscapes.
He was part of a group of Impressionist and Symbolist artists formed in 1891 around Paul Gauguin.
The artist's paintings are in the collections of many European museums, more than 16 of his pretty works are in the collection of the Orsay Museum.
The artist's works have been sold several times at Christie's and Sotheby's auctions.
A public school in Étrechet also bears his name.
