Chulkova Elena
Elena Chulkova was born in Moscow to a family of famous journalists.
“Every week my parents, together with friends, artists and art critics, went to exhibitions and vernissages in Moscow and took me with them from a very tender age. Probably this influenced the choice of my future profession, although not immediately. After school I entered the Moscow Technical University and only then, on the unexpected advice of familiar artists (although some did not advise studying, believing that I had already developed my own style and training could damage my originality), I entered the graphic arts department of the Sholokhov Moscow Pedagogical Institute. it was the only university where it was possible to study drawing and fine arts, so a higher education had already been received.
Already in my third year, I joined the city committee of graphic artists at UNESCO and began to take part in the exhibition galleries of the Moscow Union of Artists and the city committee of graphic artists in Moscow and Siberia, where my husband worked in the art fund. At the same time, private galleries and halls began to appear in Moscow, where it was possible not only to exhibit, but also to sell their works.
The style of my work was determined in the early stages by Joan Miró, but now, after more than 30 years, I think I have my own style and recognition. "
