Henri Robert Bresil

Henri Robert Bresil was born in Gonaïves on the 19th of April in 1952 and tragically died at early age in 1999.

He started to paint in 1973. After receiving the Ispan-Unesco prize in 1981, he exhibited in all the major galleries in Haiti namely Galerie Nader, and abroad in the U.S., Puerto Rico, Japan, France, Italy, and Switzerland. He became a well-known Haitian painter, whose fame went out from his home country. He received recognition from such popular publishing establishments as the New York Times, the Miami Herald and Hostess Magazine, among other publications. Brésil mainly painted landscapes. And his sharp use of greens hues gives density to his country scenes" (Gerald Alexis in his book "Peintres Haitians").
