Stéphane ROZE (born in 1963) – artist from the East of France.

“For the story, it was during the summer of 2018 that I clicked. An art gallery exhibited several abstract paintings of a local painter. I have forgotten his name today but I remember perfectly a remark from my wife: “In my opinion, you are able to do the same thing…..”

After a few tests and other stammering, because I admit I have never done art school or took a painting lesson even though I always draw, I finally found a way to let my imagination speak.

Today, my paintings are a mix of graffiti freely inspired by the urban street art of Banksy, pop-art, the expression of femininity by Cecile Desserle, and landscapes of Roger Comte. This, with a zest of sci-fi comics and sensual eroticism in attitude or look.

By playing with colors and textures, I try to make beautiful works to watch but especially not leaving indifferent ……… .. at first glance or after further reflection.”
