Kara Vladimir
Vladimir Kara (born in 1956, Moscow). Since 1985, he has lived and worked in Paris.
He studied at the School of Fine Arts and graduated in 1979 with a degree in set design. At the same time, he spent four years attending the underground studio of the painter Abraham Nitsberg.
A contemporary painter, Vladimir Kara works within a figurative tradition. Presenting his artistic approach, he states: “Drawing on a symbolic and figurative vocabulary, I attempt to resolve the perpetual challenge posed by the pictorial surface.” His research focuses on the renewal of figurative symbolism: “Whether the inspiration is historical or contemporary, a subtle interplay unfolds along an imperceptible boundary—an in‑between space where figurative clarity becomes merely the limit and the mask of symbolic figuration.”
Vladimir Kara has exhibited in prestigious venues such as Palazzo Lenzi – the Institut français of Florence – the Centro per l’arte contemporanea Luigi Pecci in Prato, the MOCA in Beijing, and the Jean Cocteau Museum in Menton. Numerous galleries have also presented his work internationally, including Inter Art Gallery in New York, Galerie Modevormgeving in The Hague, Galerie Dialogue in Geneva, and Galerie Anderes Ufer in Berlin. Several of his paintings belong to various private collections and French cultural institutions, including the Alliance Française of Paris and the Grande Loge de France.
